Argentine Peak Hike, Montezuma, Colorado

From the top of Argentine Peak, looking at Grays & Torreys

Today I went on a solo hike up to Argentine Peak in Montezuma. I parked at the Argentine Pass Trailhead at the end of Peru Creek road and started hiking up the road. After about half of a mile, I turned right onto the Continental Divide Trail and followed that trail up to Argentine Pass. This trail felt steeper than it looked and my watch supported that, with over 2,000 ft of elevation gained in 2.5 miles. Once I made it to the pass, I turned off the trail and followed the ridge up to Argentine Peak. I took a nice long snack break at the top and tried to figure out the secrets to the universe, but I had no luck. I sat looking at Bierstadt in one direction and had Grays and Torreys in another and wondered how many people were on those three mountains right now. I saw 4 other people the whole day - Iā€™m guessing that was quite a bit less than I would have seen on one of those 14ers. Once the wind picked up enough that it was too cold to remain sitting, I packed up and head back to the car the same way I came. The way down went a lot faster than the way up. Another great day in the mountains.

Total Stats: 7.2 miles, 2600 ft of elevation gain.
