Hiking Deming Mountain, Eagles Nest Wilderness, Frisco, Colorado

This fall has been filled with beautiful, warm, cloudless days. After hiking Keller Mountain the previous week, Mike and I were looking to tackle another new peak in the Gore Range and decided to check out Deming Mountain in the southern part of the range. We approached this mountain from the Meadow Creek Trailhead in Frisco and followed the Meadow Creek Trail to Eccles Pass, which is where we began our off-trail adventure. This ridge involved a short Class 2+ section, but was fairly easy to navigate after that. My mind was pretty focused on the endless skiing opportunities this peak had to offer. I suspect we’ll be back in the winter. It was another perfect day in our backyard.

Total Stats: 11.7 miles, 3700 ft of elevation gain.
