Hiking Elliott’s Ridge to Meridian Peak, Eagles Nest Wilderness, Silverthorne, Colorado

I was looking for a hike to get away from the crowds and decided to check out Elliott Ridge Trail to Meridian Peak in the Gore Range. The drive to the trailhead took a while because quite a few miles were spent on a bumpy dirt road to get to the remote trailhead. Once we arrived, we were greeted by some frozen puddles and a strong wind to start the morning. I had a feeling I wouldn’t be hot at any point on this day.

The hike was very straightforward. We just followed the Elliott Ridge Trail straight out to Meridian Peak and came back exactly the same way. I enjoyed the views along the way, with my favorite views being the ones from the top of the peak. We spent some time trying to figure out what would be the best route to summit Eagles Nest (for another day), but I’m not sure we found it. It looked intimidating. We found a lot of solitude on this hike, only seeing a handful of people all day (all hunters).

Total Stats: 12.1 miles, 1600 ft of elevation gain
